Dow Drops to Lowest Level since 1997

New York--Investors fear pushed Wall Street trading down sharply today, the first day after a disasterous unemployment report released on Friday.

Monday's drop scrapped the 6800 hunded mark and brought the Dow Jones industrial average below 7,000 that's the lowest level since 1997. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones industrial average declined about 300 points, or 4.24 percent. Standard & Poor's 500-stock index declined 4.7 percent and the Nasdaq composite fell nearly 4 percent.
