Happy Birthday Vaquero!

Happy Birthday to the another Idaho native.  The Vaquero onion, a variety of spanish sweet type onion, turned twenty this year.


Mostly developed and introduced in Idaho and Eastern Oregon, the vaquero is now amoung the most successful onion varieties grown worldwide.   Dr. Rick Watson, of Nunhems Seeds, was a member of the development team that began work in 1981 and introduced the onion commercially in 1992...twenty years ago.   Happy Birthday Vaquero!
