Greek Yogurt in US School Lunch Programs

Boise-Senator Mike Crapo and Superintendent Tom Luna announced that Greek yogurt will be served in the Idaho school lunch program and also nationwide.

Crapo wrote letters on behalf of the Idaho Congressional Delegation, and working with Senator Chuck Schumer (D-New York) and others convinced the USDA to add Greek yogurt as a non-mandatory addition to USDA school nutrition programs for the 2013-14 calendar school years.

That's good news to Idaho Dairymen, "This pilot project represents another way children can choose healthy and delicious options during the school day," said Karianne Fallow, CEO of United Dairymen of Idaho.
